New VMM™ Vibration Multifunction Meter

Includes PC software for trending and reports

Get started with vibration now, then upgrade to a full-featured VSA Vibration Spectrum Analyzer later

The VMM Vibration Multifunction Meter enables you to get started monitoring vibration now and upgrade later to a full-featured VSA Vibration Spectrum Analyzer. Models are available in two form factors – regular and rugged – with two different handheld computers. The VMM displays Overall Acceleration and Overall Velocity, as well as exclusive Peaking™ value for early detection of bearing faults.

This multifunction meter enables you to use ISO alarms, or customize your own. You can add checkpoints and instructions on what to do if a threshold is exceeded, and take notes on visual cues such as oil leaks. The included PC software is based on Microsoft Excel for ease of sharing data, and provides a variety of charts and reports. Much more than a meter, the VMM is a platform from which to expand.

These models are available:

  • VMM-1105 uses the same form factor as the VSA-1200 and is upgradable to any VSA-1200 series Vibration Spectrum Analyzer. Includes Datastick InSpect™ software running on the Palm TX handheld computer.
  • VMM-3105  in Datastick’s new ruggedized form factor is upgradable to any VSA-3300 series Vibration Spectrum Analyzer. Includes Includes Datastick InSpect software running on an IP-67-rated MEZ-1500 Meazura handheld computer.

InSpect software on the handheld computer displays Overall Acceleration in RMS, Overall Velocity, and Datastick’s exclusive Peaking value, which shows high-frequency impulse energy for early detection of bearing faults. Also includes:

  • Built-in ISO alerts or your own alerts, which can be customized for each measurement point.
  • Accelerometer and velocity sensor support
  • Frequencies range down to 2 Hz and up to 20 kHz
  • Resolution up to 3200 lines

PC software included for trending and more is included:

Datastick Reporting System for InSpect (DRSI™) software for the PC: Data from the handheld imports into a special version of Microsoft Excel-compatible Datastick Reporting System for InSpect software for trending and reporting. There are a number of reports available. For example, the Inspection Point Trends Report displays Acceleration, Velocity, Displacement, and Peaking together in terms of percent change over time. See the web page on InSpect for an example. An Exception Report shows the results of alarms so you can quickly see which equipment needs the most immediate attention.

Datastick InSpect RouteMaker™ software for PC and handheld enables you to:

  • Build an inspection route on the PC
  • Set up checklists for each measurement point
  • Provide instructions on what to do if a measurement exceeds a threshold or a check point shows trouble
  • Download the inspection route to the handheld

As the technician runs the route, he taps NEXT on the handheld computer’s touchscreen, takes the read, checks to see if there are any alarms, checks the items on the checklist, complies with your instructions, and makes notes.

When you purchase a VMM, you are purchasing a platform that enables you to get started monitoring vibration now and upgrade later. Once you start seeing the savings that vibration monitoring can provide, you can upgrade later to a full-featured VSA Vibration Spectrum Analyzer. These tools pay for themselves many times over.

Packages include: Accelerometer, magnetic mount, cables, hardshell carrying case, canvas protective case, VMM module, and handheld computer. A RC-5 Rugged case for the VMM-1105 is optional.

Ships in March 2012. Specifications are subject to change without notice.
